A FEW FACTS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
I believe that it is necessary to lay out a few basic rules that relate to the Website. I hope that these do not deter any potential contributors and budding Authors out there but - to protect both Goodmanham Parish Council and myself - they do have to be stated.
For the vast majority of items published on this Website they will be irrelevant in any event so – if you feel you can contribute – please do so. Your contribution will be appreciated and will make for a more balanced and representative Community Website.
1. In order to obtain the most cost effective means of publishing a Website (that is ‘FREE’) it has been necessary to register both the Web-space and Domain Name to an individual. That individual is, in this case, myself and I am, therefore, ultimately responsible (and liable) in law, for the content of the site.
It follows, therefore, that it is necessary that I, as the Webmaster, have the final decision on what is or is not published on this Web-Site.
2. All published items that are direct copies of Parish Council Minutes or other Parish Council Documents remain the Copyright of Goodmanham Parish Council.
3. All other items obtained from ‘Official’ or Government sources or other Commercial organisations will remain the Copyright of the originating body and will be acknowledged as such.
4. Individual contributions (including drawings, sketches and photographs) will become the Copyright of the Webmaster on publication unless the individual Author requests otherwise. In all cases the Author/Copyright Holder will be acknowledged by name and, if requested, their Copyright will be stated.
5. It is a condition of acceptance of any contribution that the contributor asserts and ensures that the work submitted is entirely his or her own and has not been plagiarised or copied from another source without due permission and acknowledgement. The original contributor retains responsibility for this condition at all times and without limitation of time.
6. The Webmaster retains the right to make minor alterations to any work (without altering the meaning or context) if that is editorially expedient or necessary.
7. Neither the Webmaster nor Goodmanham Parish Council have any liability in respect of any other Website or e-mail address that may be linked to this Website. It is strongly recommended that you ensure that your computer is protected against viral or other threats by installing and maintaining up to date Anti-Virus and Anti Spy/Adware Software on your computer.
8. This Website will not publish items of a potentially contentious political or religious nature.
9. This Website will not carry paid advertisements or endorse particular products. However local businesses may be mentioned (and praised or otherwise) where they contribute in some way to the community. In some instances, in order to obtain a cost free ‘add on’ Internet service, it may be necessary to carry a banner for that provider or the link provided may carry advertising. This will not have been paid for - or any payment received - by either the Webmaster or Goodmanham Parish Council. It is strongly recommended that you do not open any advertising links.
