This page relates to the proposed reconstruction of the York to Beverley railway. It would appear that this proposed Railway Line will cross the Goodmanham Rd between Goodmanham and Market Weighton. It will then take the old Railway route along what has now become Hudson Way towards Beverley. The proposed station may be on the Goodmanham Road as it comes out of Market Weighton.
(Scroll down for maps of proposed railway line)
If this Rail Link is ever re-built then clearly it will have a direct impact on Goodmanham so I am hoping to include as much information a I can find on the subject on these pages.
A feasibility study has been carried out by a firm of independent civil engineers and they have reported that it is a viable proposition. This report (minus meaningful maps) can be found via the Minsters Rail Campaign link below!
The Campaign Website contains some information about the proposed re-opening of the railway line and also links to the Report that was produced on the feasibility of the line. There is a great need for more information
The report describes the proposed routes but I could not find a graphic illustration or sketch map of the route on their website. Perhaps we will see these at a later stage.
At a Parish Meeting on the 19th September 2007 Goodmanham Parish rejected the proposed plans to re-open the Railway. The vote was almost 2:1 against the plan. The Clerk to the Meeting has written to both the Minsters Rail Campaign and the East Riding Council to advise them of the decision. For more details click here ...
The Clerk has now been in contact with the East Riding Council and, while they are not driving the proposed plan themselves, they do intend to include the possibility of reopening the line in the Local Development Plan to protect the route from development in future years. Any proposed work on reinstating the line is, however, many years away.
I have obtained a map which gives a more accurate illustration of where the line will go in Market Weighton and Goodmanham. From that information I have been able to include a more detailed series of maps that give a better (but approximate) illustration of where the line will be, both near to and through, Goodmanham Parish.
It is important to emphasise that the series of maps that I have included (B to G) are only an approximate interpretation of Map A.

The Maps B - G below show the approximate route of the Market Weighton North Route Option in more detail.
It is important to emphasise that the route shown is ONLY an approximate interpretation of MAP A

Given the topography of the land and the current level of the old Beverley and Driffield disused trackbeds -the line of proposed trackbed ( in MAP B (1) below ) coloured in GREEN must run along an elevated embankment. This would suggest a bridge over Goodmanham Rd and NOT a level crossing!
